I always keep the bathroom stocked with basics such as a nice hand soap, lotion, shampoo and conditioner, shower gel, and a toothbrush and toothpaste. Additionally, whenever I stay in a hotel and don't use the bathroom products I take them with me and put them in a vase in the bathroom. As a result, I also have a variety of other items such as mini shaving sets, mini soaps, sewing kits, pillow sprays, you name it.
If you are starting from scratch, you can easily go to the travel size section at target and pick out a variety of mini products to put on display in your guest bathroom. If you know that you will have regular guests, you can also purchase full-size products that you keep in the bathroom.
When choosing full-size products make sure you keep your regular visitors in mind. If your guests are mostly women, then rose or lavender scented products are fine. If your guests are mostly couples or men, then perhaps go with something more neutral such as eucalyptus or citrus scented products. You can also stock gender specific products.
You do not have to spend a fortune on your bathroom products. There are plenty of affordable, lovely smelling products that can be purchased at grocery stores. Trader Joes has some wonderful, gender neutral bath products. They even have a three in one shampoo, conditioner, and body wash which will cover everything your guests may need in the shower. Keep in mind, if your guests are picky they will probably bring their own products.
Here are some full-size products you may want to stock in your guest bath – between $5 to $8 each at Target. These are all products I either have in my own guest bath or have used in the past. They are all quality products with a pleasing, gender neutral scent and a decent looking container:
Ogx Aegean Oil of Morocco, Shampoo and Conditioner – $7 each
Herbal Essence Honey and Vitamin B, Shampoo and Conditioner – $7 each
EOS 24 Hour Fresh and Cozy, Body Lotion – $8
Mr. Myers Lemon Verbena, Hand Soap – $5
Colab, Dry Shampoo – $6
Nivea Shea Butter, Body Wash – $5
Other items you may want to stock up on include:
Toothbrushes – $1
Toothpaste – $1
Flossers – $1
Mouthwash – $2
Cotton Swabs – $1.50
Makeup Wipes – $2.50
First Aid Kit – $2.40
You should be able to stock your guest bath for around $50. If you are on a tighter budget, you may want to consider putting together a DIY guest kit. You can do this by buying a set of travel bottles and filling them with products you already have. Then, you can restock them from your own supply whenever they run out. For $10 on Amazon you can find a travel kit with a variety of bottles, including a small spray bottle which you can use for a pillow spray.
Another very easy and affordable option (under $10) is a buying a travel sized convenience kit from somewhere like Walmart or on Amazon. They are generally gender specific. Keep in mind these may need to be restocked depending on how frequently you have guests.
I hope this helps you put together your guest bath. Let me know what products you like to stock in the comments below!
As always,
Alli
